Arjan Tien, winner of the first prize ‘Rotary-Faller’ in conducting – Switzerland, performs in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa, where he works with internationally established orchestras and opera companies such as Wermland Opera, the Dutch Touring Opera, Opera South, Gauteng Opera, the WDR Rundfunkorchester, the Belgrade Philharmonic, and most major Dutch and South African orchestras. He was the artistic director and principal conductor of the Magogo Chamber Orchestra (2006-2012) and has recorded for many international record labels. Tien is professor at the Maastricht Conservatoire, regularly gives master classes and was appointed as chief conductor to the orchestra of the Royal Dutch Navy in March 2016.
James Grace, one of South Africa’s leading concert artists, studied at the Royal College of Music in London and became the first guitarist in the history of the College to receive the Tagore Gold Medal, an annual award presented to the most outstanding student. After two years in Doha, Qatar, where he taught guitar at an International Music Centre, Grace returned to South Africa and was appointed Head of Classical Guitar Studies at the University of Cape Town. He recently released his fifth solo album, World Café, under his own record label, Stringwise Records. His previous releases Sevilla – Music of Spain II and Café Latino both topped the Classic FM Top 20 South African Charts and earned SAMA nominations.
